Concerns about governmental challenges to higher education were present during the State Higher Education Executive Officers Association conference. Leaders expressed optimism about the future and confidence in the academic mission. Bryce McKibben emphasized the need for the higher education community to respond to disinformation and protect vulnerable students and faculty. He highlighted the importance of state-level leadership as an example for change. Attendees engaged in networking and discussions about the future of universities in a challenging political climate.

This is the time for us to speak up. We have to challenge the disinformation and the false narratives about higher education. We have to protect our vulnerable students, our faculty.
