The San José-Evergreen Community College District board approved the appointment of Dr. Marilyn Flores as president of San José City College on December 9; she will assume the role on January 12, 2026. Flores is a first-generation college graduate and second-language learner with more than 25 years in the California Community Colleges system, including service as superintendent/president of Rio Hondo College, interim president of Santa Ana College, and vice president of academic affairs at Santiago Canyon College. Her selection followed a nationwide search that included dozens of applicants, two interview rounds, and virtual candidate forums. Flores holds a PhD from UC Riverside, a master’s degree from UCLA, and a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in education and Spanish.
