Dropout, the independent comedy streaming service that evolved from CollegeHumor, is implementing a one-dollar increase in its subscription fee, raising it to $6.99 monthly or $69.99 annually effective May 7. Current subscribers will retain their rate if they upgrade to yearly before this date. The CEO, Sam Reich, emphasized that this increase will allow better investment in shows, infrastructure, and employee compensation, marking the first price hike since 2022.
"Higher prices simply means that we can spend more on shows, the infrastructure to support those shows, and treating our people even better," Dropout CEO Sam Reich said.
Current subscribers will be grandfathered in, and their price per month will not change, but locking in the original rate will require a yearly upgrade before May 7.
