Provost Says Dine College Dismissed Her "For Being White"

"I take this action to replace you with a qualified Navajo individual, again, of my choosing and who will reflect my management leadership approach."

"The community assumed it was for cause and began spreading rumors. I want Dr. Dennison to set the record straight. She fired me for being white."

Alysa Landry was terminated from her position as provost at Diné College shortly after the new president, Deborah Jackson-Dennison, assumed office. The termination letter indicated a preference for hiring a qualified Navajo individual without citing any misconduct or performance issues. Landry expressed concern that the community assumed her dismissal was for cause, leading to rumors. She stated that her firing was due to her being white and called for clarification from Dr. Dennison regarding the reasons for her termination.
