"Caddying taught me discipline, patience and responsibility,"
"A record 1,260 caddies in the program are enrolled at 27 universities."
Five high school students from the Los Angeles area have been awarded the Evans Scholarship, which covers full housing and tuition for golf caddies. The recipients are Amaia Diaz, Marley Gomez, Joel Arriaga Lopez, Sara Mejia, and Cesar Sierra. The Western Golf Assn. Caddie Academy supports the scholarship program, which has seen over 12,000 graduates since 1930. To qualify, students must demonstrate a strong caddie record, outstanding academics, financial need, and exceptional character. The scholarship is valued at more than $125,000 over four years.
