NCAA revokes eligibility of 6 more college basketball players as it continues sports betting probe
"The NCAA revoked the eligibility of six men's college basketball players on Friday as a result of three separate sports-betting cases that involved a power-conference school and allegations of players throwing games to lose by more points than the spread. NOTE: The video is from a previous report. The NCAA Committee on Infractions released findings from an investigation that concluded Chatton "BJ" Freeman at Arizona State;"
"The development comes as the sporting world contends with mounting scrutiny over betting. Nearly three dozen people were arrested last month, including an NBA player and coach, for what federal law enforcement officials described as their involvement in various illicit gambling activities. Just this week, UFC President and CEO Dana White said he was in touch with the FBI regarding a match that involved unusual betting patterns."
The NCAA revoked eligibility for six men's college basketball players after three separate sports-betting cases. The cases involved accusations that players manipulated performances to lose games, failed to cover betting lines, or ensured specific prop bets were reached. Named players include Chatton "BJ" Freeman (Arizona State); Cedquavious Hunter, Dyquavian Short and Jamond Vincent (New Orleans); and Donovan Sanders and Alvin Stredic (Mississippi Valley State). Evidence included text messages linking players to banned individuals. Federal authorities have made numerous arrests connected to illicit gambling, and the NCAA is investigating dozens of current and former players for betting-related activity.
