"Cornell is thrilled to welcome all of these incredible student-athletes to Ithaca. The NCAA basketball tournaments are cultural institutions and lots of fun. I'm excited and proud, both as a fan and as the university's president, to host our terrific Ivy athletes, coaches and fans."
"This gives Cornell the chance to step up on a broader stage and show the country the kind of energy we bring to whatever we're doing. We're known for bringing excellence and enthusiasm to our athletic programs and campus community."
Cornell University is hosting the Ivy League Basketball tournaments for the first time, with men's and women's competitions taking place March 13-15 at Newman Arena. The top four teams in each division compete for automatic NCAA Tournament bids. Cornell's men's team earned the fourth seed after a late-season push and will face Yale on March 14 at 11 a.m., having previously defeated the Bulldogs 72-69 on a last-second three-pointer. Harvard plays Penn in the other men's semifinal. For women's basketball, Brown, Columbia, Harvard, and Princeton have qualified with seedings to be determined. Cornell officials prepared by observing Brown's hosting of the 2025 tournaments, and the university made facility improvements to Newman Arena and Bartels Hall.
