Five Cornell faculty were named among 126 Sloan Research Fellowship recipients across North America for 2026. Recipients include a Geri Gay Professor of Communication in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences; an assistant professor of computer science in the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science; Xiaomeng Liu, assistant professor of physics (A&S); Azahara Oliva, assistant professor of neurobiology and behavior (A&S); and Daniel Stern, assistant professor of mathematics (A&S). The fellowships, awarded annually since 1955, provide $75,000 over two years and support scholars in seven fields. One recipient studies how social practices configure technical possibilities, with implications across multiple disciplines.
