The most expensive overall on-campus options appear at private Dublin institutions, with single rooms exceeding €13,000 and premium private rooms reaching as high as €16,000 including utilities.
It found that students looking for accommodation in Dublin institutions could pay over 50pc more for a single or double room than in the rest of the country. Costs vary significantly depending on the type of accommodation. However, students in the capital can pay €10,120 on average per academic year, while universities elsewhere offer accommodation for an average of €6,531.
University College Dublin (UCD) is the most expensive public university for student accommodation, with prices for a single room starting at €7,071 for a dorm-style room in the Blackrock Halls and €5,722 for a twin room. The university is charging €11,888 for an en suite room in the Village 3. This is an increase from last year of €103 for a dorm-style room and €56 for a twin room.
