Sutter Health taking "big swing" on ultramodern Santa Clara hospital
"This is a big swing and a big bet,"
"This will really be the digital hospital of the future,"
"As part of our vision to create a dual-campus medical destination in Santa Clara, this investment expands access, advances clinical excellence and strengthens the coordinated experience for patients and families across the region,"
Sutter Health intends to build an eight-story, 850,000-square-foot medical center on a 13.6-acre site near Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, scheduled to open in 2031. The project is part of a $2.8 billion investment across Sutter's East and West Care Center sites and will feature 272 licensed private patient rooms with capacity to add 40 more beds. The hospital will include a full-service emergency department, labor and delivery suites, a neonatal intensive care unit, advanced operating rooms, surgical services, a rooftop helipad, and access for community physicians. The campuses are expected to support more than 5,000 jobs.
