Sutter Health is investing $2.8 billion to build a new 272-bed flagship medical center in Santa Clara, scheduled to open in late 2031. The facility will offer all private patient rooms, a full-service emergency department, intensive care units, advanced operating rooms and a Level III neonatal intensive care unit. The project targets an underserved region, aims to increase capacity and expand access, and will create specialty hubs in cancer, women's health and orthopedics. The center will integrate with the Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group for recruitment, include the Sutter East Santa Clara Care Center, and create health care education pathways.
