"A 10pc increase on some of these plans could add €300 to the adult cost of their cover. Our analysis shows some dated plans will be increasing by €367 to €955 per adult,"
"They have been on the market for some time and have been impacted by multiple increases over the years,"
"Our advice to any member on these plans is that they must get their cover reviewed well in advance of their next renewal. In many cases, they can source lower-cost cover from the same insurer."
An analysis identified 35 health insurance plans that still provide good cover but may not offer the best value. Recent premium hikes by major insurers have raised prices across plans, with typical increases of 10–15% and some dated plans rising up to 25%. Some individual adult premiums have increased by approximately €367 to €955, and other rises approach €500–€950. Around 500,000 policyholders face renewals soon. Many consumers remain on older, repeatedly increased plans and may be overpaying; reviewing cover before renewal can often produce lower-cost options from the same insurer. Examples include Laya's Company Care Gold costing €9,437 per adult.
