""Our hospitals and nearly all medical offices will remain open, though some of our pharmacies and labs will be closed,""
""We are working closely with community partners, commercial laboratories, and retail pharmacy networks to minimize any impact on our members.""
""second wave""
More than 3,000 pharmacy and lab workers in Southern California represented by the United Food and Commercial Workers joined a second wave of strikes against Kaiser Permanente on Feb. 9, 2026. The overall strike now includes about 34,000 registered nurses, healthcare professionals, and pharmacy and lab workers. Grocery-union pharmacists with contracts expiring March 1 have shown up on Kaiser picket lines in solidarity. Kaiser sent texts to members in California and Hawaii warning of lab service impacts and prescription delays, directed members to kp.org, and said hospitals and most medical offices will remain open while coordinating with partners to reduce member impacts.
