Kaiser Permanente says 40% of striking workers are back at work
"As the Kaiser labor strike enters its fourth week, the health care giant is estimating that 40% of its 31,000 union registered nurses and other workers have begun returning to work. On Monday, the Oakland-based company said about 12,400 striking employees were back at work in California and Hawaii, with as many as 58% of staff members returning to work in some locations."
"The one number that Kaiser refuses to talk about is the $67 billion it has in reserves to settle this contract in a manner that best suits staffing and patient care needs. Emergency room nurse Teer Kina sounds the horn as she and about 200 other Kaiser Permanente health care workers continue their open-ended strike at the Anaheim hospital on Monday, February 16, 2026."
Kaiser estimates that 40% of its 31,000 union registered nurses and other workers have begun returning to work amid a month-long labor strike, reporting about 12,400 back in California and Hawaii and up to 58% returns in some locations. The union disputes those return-to-work figures and highlights that Kaiser holds $67 billion in reserves that could be used to settle the contract to support staffing and patient care. Hundreds of nurses and health care workers continue open-ended picketing at facilities such as the Anaheim hospital, with some strikers citing financial hardship for crossing picket lines.
