GPs and sports centre join forces
Briefly

A collaboration between South Downs Health & Care GP Federation and Wave Active has led to the establishment of a new healthcare service at Hillbrow sports campus in Eastbourne. This initiative aims to integrate NHS services with sports and leisure to enhance community health. Planned services include over 200 urgent NHS appointments weekly, alongside GP training and various health clinics starting April 22. This pioneering approach, described by leaders as a ground-breaking moment, seeks to provide a holistic approach to health and wellbeing in an accessible environment.
Dr. Nick Harvey, GP & CEO at SDHC described it as a "ground-breaking moment". He said "We are integrating our services, including urgent treatment with physical activity-focused health and wellbeing provision, all within a modern multi-functional complex."
Duncan Kerr, chief executive of Wave Active, said it was "a huge step forward" and would enable "fully integrated healthcare and wellbeing services in the heart of our community."
