Vapes Clouds Contain Absolutely Horrifying Chemicals, Scientists Find
Briefly

Recent research from UC Davis indicates that some disposable vapes contain toxic metals at harmful levels, even surpassing traditional cigarettes. The study examined popular brands like ELF Bar and Esco Bar and revealed alarming lead concentrations. These metals, including nickel, chromium, and antimony, pose significant health risks, including cancer and cardiovascular issues. Particularly alarming was the discovery that certain vapes emitted more lead in just 200 puffs than smoking 20 packs of cigarettes. This contamination is linked to both the vape's components and the e-liquids used.
When I first saw the lead concentrations, they were so high I thought our instrument was broken," study coauthor Mark Salazar said in a statement about the work.
To quickly sum up what makes these metals bad: the type of nickel detected can cause lung and nasal cancer; chromium is also considered a carcinogen.
