Ed Atkins, an English artist, began a unique practice during the pandemic by drawing on Post-it notes for his daughter's lunchbox. This practice not only provided daily moments of achievement but also evolved into a significant element of his artistic exploration of identity in the digital age. His drawings range from whimsical to macabre. For his upcoming exhibition at Tate Britain, he aims to center the Post-its, using them as a medium to convey deeper insights about perception and emotional acceptance in contemporary society.
"As well as little hellos, they were also, amid the power-down of the pandemic, a way for me to achieve something every day, says Atkins."
"What began as a private father-daughter ritual has since become integral to Atkins's practice, which uses video and animation to explore how the digital world affects our sense of self."
