Gummy Industries has developed an innovative open-source brand identity for Brescia that encourages citizen involvement and self-expression. The centerpiece is a unique typeface, Brescia Sans, designed to encapsulate the city's spirit while allowing residents to utilize its assets freely. The design reflects local vernacular and the aesthetic history of the city, emphasizing imperfection and authenticity. Collaborating closely with type designer Mike Nigra, Gummy Industries successfully merged historical influences with contemporary design to create a brand that not only represents Brescia but also fosters community connection and individual expression.
The aim was to craft a brand that reflects Brescia's essence, allowing citizens to express their individuality using an open-source identity.
