"I think he's got a style of game that can play for a long time with his skill, his physicality, his mind for the game," Dunleavy said. "So I guess my vision for him is him returning at some point between now and this time next year."
"Butler will miss the rest of this regular season and his progress won't be updated until "early next season," according to their news release, signaling the team's expectation that he won't be back until the middle of the 2026-27 campaign."
"General manager Mike Dunleavy said he didn't "envision" trading Butler and anticipates him returning to the team next season."
Jimmy Butler underwent successful surgery on his torn right ACL Monday morning in Los Angeles, performed by Dr. Bert Mandelbaum with several Warriors personnel in attendance. Butler will miss the remainder of the regular season and progress updates are not expected until "early next season," with the team projecting a potential return by the middle of the 2026-27 campaign. Butler suffered the injury on Jan. 19 after joining Golden State via a midseason trade a year earlier and contributed to a 23-8 run and a second-round playoff appearance. General manager Mike Dunleavy does not envision trading Butler and expects him to return within a year; coach Steve Kerr said the injury lowers the team's ceiling.
