San Antonio Spurs win the West, beating Oklahoma City Thunder to head to NBA Finals
The Spurs won 111-103 in Oklahoma City to complete a Western Conference finals sweep after starting and ending the series with road wins. Victor Wembanyama scored 22 points, while Julian Champagnie had 18 points with 20 total, including 3-pointers. Stephon Castle added 16 and De'Aaron Fox scored 15, with Dylan Harper at 12 and Keldon Johnson and Devin Vassell at 11 each. Luke Kornet’s fourth-quarter rim block on Isaiah Hartenstein helped prevent a fast-break score that would have cut the Thunder’s deficit to four. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led Oklahoma City with 35 points and nine assists, but the Thunder lost for the eighth straight season to produce a new NBA champion. The Spurs will host the New York Knicks in Game 1 on Wednesday night, their first Finals appearance since 2014.
"Wembanyama scored 22 points, Julian Champagnie got 18 of his 20 off of 3-pointers and the Spurs beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 111-103 on Saturday night bucking heavy odds to win a Game 7 on the road."
