"It felt great, and there was a lot of frustration going into that dunk, because there was a lot of chirping going on out there. It was the loudest basket of a 28-point night, as Melton manufactured baskets from all three levels and flew into the paint with abandon for layups and free throws in a near-comeback 113-109 loss."
"Melton missed much of the second half of the 2023-24 season with a back injury, and then all but six games of the 2024-25 campaign with an ACL tear. Since returning to the court in December, the Warriors have been careful to play him no more than around 25 minutes per game. On top of that, he has yet to play both halves of a pair of back-to-back games."
"We're getting deeper into the season and he's feeling well. It's something Rick (Celebrini) and I will discuss at the end of this week. Most definitely, and there were conversations about this (back-to-back). Definitely can't wait to get out there and be with my guys on both ends."
De'Anthony Melton showcased his athletic abilities with a powerful poster dunk and 28-point performance in the Warriors' 113-109 loss to the Pelicans, displaying his capability to score from all three levels. However, the 27-year-old guard was benched the following night in Memphis due to the team's cautious approach to his playing time management. Melton missed most of the 2023-24 season with a back injury and nearly all of the 2024-25 season with an ACL tear. Since returning in December, the Warriors have limited him to approximately 25 minutes per game and have not allowed him to play both halves of back-to-back games. Coach Steve Kerr indicated this restriction could change soon as Melton continues to feel better and the season progresses.
