Germany approves 3 billion euros in new military aid for Ukraine
Briefly

Germany has committed another three billion euros in military aid for Ukraine, focusing on defense equipment amid ongoing conflict with Russia. This aid, part of a larger military assistance strategy totaling over 28 billion euros, includes artillery munitions and future deliveries of German-made Iris-T air defense systems. As both Ukraine and Russia prepare for US-brokered peace talks, tensions remain high with accusations of ongoing strikes contradicting agreements for a temporary truce. The new funding is part of a broader financial initiative aimed at enhancing Germany’s military capabilities as well as supporting Ukraine.
Germany has been Ukraine's second-largest supplier of military aid, worth some 28 billion euros so far, after the United States since Russia launched its full-scale invasion over three years ago.
The latest package includes units of the German-made Iris-T air defense systems that had yet to be built and will be delivered over the next two years.
Both countries have said they agree with a 30-day pause in strikes on energy targets, despite ongoing aerial attacks and accusations of breaking the truce.
The three billion euros now released come on top of four billion euros in Ukraine military aid already planned in the budget for 2025.
