Major motorway in Hamburg to close over the weekend
"A section of the A7 motorway in Hamburg is to be closed from Friday night until Monday, December 8th. The closure also affects the Elbe tunnel. The affected section of the A7 motorway runs from the Hamburg-Stellingen junction to the Hamburg-Heimfeld junction. The main closure is set to begin from 10 pm on Friday, December 5th and then continue for 55 hours. The closure is expected to be lifted on Monday morning at 5 am on December 8th."
"The closures of the Hamburg-Stellingen, Volkspark, Bahrenfeld, Othmarschen, Waltershof and Heimfeld slip roads will begin at 9 pm on Friday. During this time, through-traffic will be largely diverted via the A1, A21 and B205 motorways, with detours marked by signs. Coming from the south, drivers are to be diverted on the A1 from the Buchholzer Dreieck/ Horster Dreieck via the Maschener Kreuz junction. Those coming from the north, are to be directed on to the B205 from the Neumünster-Süd junction."
"There may also be traffic jams on the A1 in front of the Norderelb bridge, because traffic restrictions have been imposed on the motorway bridge, especially for trucks, since mid-March. The closure is related to a plan to expand the motorway from six lanes to eight lanes, as well as adding improved noise protection infrastructure. The two-kilometre-long Altona noise protection tunnel is scheduled to be completed by 2028."
A section of the A7 motorway in Hamburg will close from 10 pm on Friday, December 5th until 5 am on Monday, December 8th, a 55-hour shutdown that also affects the Elbe tunnel. The affected stretch runs between the Hamburg-Stellingen and Hamburg-Heimfeld junctions. Slip-road closures at Hamburg-Stellingen, Volkspark, Bahrenfeld, Othmarschen, Waltershof and Heimfeld begin at 9 pm on Friday. Through-traffic will be diverted via the A1, A21 and B205 with signed detours; southbound drivers will use the A1 via Buchholzer Dreieck/Horster Dreieck and Maschener Kreuz, and northbound drivers will be directed onto the B205 from Neumünster-Süd. Congestion may occur on the A1 near the Norderelb bridge due to existing restrictions. The closure supports widening the motorway from six to eight lanes and installing enhanced noise protection, with the two-kilometre Altona noise protection tunnel planned for completion by 2028.
