Irish woman 'repeatedly punched in the face by police' during Gaza protest in Berlin
Briefly

On Rosenthaler Straße in Berlin protesters gathered after calls to "flood the streets" from 6pm. Videos from 'irishblocberlin' show Kitty O'Brien clutching a mangled nose, lifting bloodied hands to police, and shouting "their blood is on your hands" before being dragged away by two male officers. The Berlin police face accusations of brutalising an Irish activist, and the Irish Palestine Solidarity Campaign called the actions indefensible while accusing Germany of complicity in genocide and demanding government intervention. Polizei Berlin said it reported the incident to the Directorate for Police Offences to determine whether the response was disproportionate or criminal.
"This is the latest shameful incident in a laundry list of brutal attacks on peaceful Palestine protestors," they added. "Germany is broadcasting to the world their complicity in genocide in both word and deed. "Kitty was simply protesting and doing her duty in upholding international law, an obligation that the German state repeatedly chooses to ignore. "Germany must reckon with the fact that providing political and material support for an ongoing genocide does not lessen their culpability for the Holocaust.
