A light recovery is expected by autumn 2025 and internal economic momentum should accelerate around the turn of 2025/26, supported by federal financial and economic measures. Much of the projected expansion is expected to come from higher state financing, including special infrastructure funds and increased defense investment. Critics say projections are essentially financed by taking on public debt. The government also highlighted the need to lower energy prices and taxes as manufacturing and industrial production face sharp declines, notably in the automotive sector.
