Deutsche Bahn says cyberattack hit ticket and info systems
"DB has been and continues to be subjected to attacks on its IT systems,"
"The current attack is specifically targeted at DB and has occurred in waves. The scale of the attack is considerable."
"Our defensive measures took effect in order to keep the impact on our customers as low as possible,"
"Our top priority remains the protection of customer data and the availability of our information and booking systems."
Deutsche Bahn's IT systems were hit by a DDoS attack around midday Tuesday, disrupting travel information and booking tools on its website and in the Navigator app. The company said the attack was specifically targeted at DB, occurred in waves, and was of considerable scale. Customers were notified of disruptions on Tuesday afternoon, and systems were largely stable by the evening, though further problems reappeared Wednesday morning. The firm said defensive measures took effect to limit customer impact and declined to speculate on the attack's background. The company emphasized protecting customer data and maintaining availability of information and booking systems. Germany's Interior Ministry said DB contacted cybersecurity authorities.
