"Daimler Buses has secured a complete contract with Regionalbus Leipzig for the construction of a new electric bus depot at Zwenkau and the delivery of nine battery-electric Mercedes eCitaro solo buses, with operations scheduled to start by early 2027. And "an option has been placed for 17 additional charging points and 18 eCitaro vehicles, potentially entering service by mid-2028, with additional funding applications already underway", Daimler Truck points out in a press note."
"The Zwenkau e-bus depot will be built adjacent to the existing diesel facility and features a covered carport with eleven bus lanes, 20 parking spaces, and charging bays, shielded by a central fire-protection wall. Daimler Buses, acting as general contractor, will deliver all construction services turnkey-from underground engineering and superstructure work to steel structures, paving, and full electrical installation. The depot includes its own transformer station, battery storage, photovoltaic system, and Sinos load management system."
Daimler Buses will construct a turnkey electric bus depot at Zwenkau and deliver nine battery-electric Mercedes eCitaro 12-meter solo buses for Regionalbus Leipzig, with service planned by early 2027. The contract covers supply, installation, and commissioning of CCS2 charging infrastructure, a photovoltaic system, energy storage, and full service and maintenance for buses and chargers. Funding of approximately €3.6 million has been granted by the Federal Republic of Germany and the Free State of Saxony. The depot will include eleven bus lanes, 20 parking spaces, a transformer station, Sinos load management, and initial deployment of ten CCS2 charging points expandable to 20.
