Fortnite Raising Prices, Cutting Bonus Rewards To Help 'Pay Bills'
"The cost of running has gone up a lot, and we're raising prices to help pay the bills. Epic Games explained this reasoning in their March 10 blog post announcing the price increase, citing the substantial expenses associated with maintaining and operating Fortnite as justification for the adjustments to V-Bucks pricing and subscription rewards."
"Starting March 19, players will get fewer V-Bucks when buying the in-game premium currency. Epic is raising the cost for players buying exact amounts of V-Bucks in increments of 50, with 50 V-Bucks now costing $1 instead of the previous $0.50, while previously purchased V-Buck gift cards will still provide their printed amounts."
Epic Games announced price changes for Fortnite's in-game currency and subscription services effective March 19. V-Bucks purchase amounts are being reduced while prices increase, with 50 V-Bucks now costing $1 instead of $0.50. Fortnite Crew subscribers will receive 800 V-Bucks monthly instead of 1,000, and the 500 bonus V-Bucks from completing the main battle pass are being removed. However, several passes are becoming cheaper: the main battle pass drops from 1,000 to 800 V-Bucks, while the OG Pass, Music Pass, and LEGO Pass each decrease by 200 V-Bucks. Epic attributed these changes to increased operational costs.
