In Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, players can find the Inventor, who offers significant upgrades for the protagonist, Sam. Located on an island in the northern part of the Australia map, players gain access to this area in Chapter 3: Drawbridge. Although visiting the Inventor early is an option, players need to navigate through a tar ocean, utilizing their Odradek scanner to identify safe paths. Alternatives like vehicles can aid in this navigation, but players often won’t have one at this stage, making ingenuity key to reaching the island.
The easiest way to make it across is to walk through the tar ocean using your Odradek scanner to see what is safe to step on.
While it isn't required, you can access this island as soon as you touchdown in Australia, and whether or not it's worth it to head there immediately is up to you.
You will know you're going the right way once you pass the Special Alloy Mine.
There’s no bridge or road to reach it. This is the Inventor 'puzzle' where you'll have to use your ingenuity to find a way safely across.
