Vacheron Constantin Celebrates Its 270th Birthday with One of the Coolest Watches of the Year
"This week, Vacheon released two novelties that are sure to capture some well-deserved GPHG attention: The first, an automaton clock dubbed La Quête du Temps, is surely spectacular, albeit more of an art installation than a practical timekeeper: Weighing 550 pounds, utilizing over 6,000 components and measuring 3.5 feet tall, it's currently parked at the Louvre - and we don't recommend trying to move it."
"The second, however, is a 20-piece limited edition wristwatch: Housed within the Métieres d'Art collection, it's called Tribute to the Quest of Time, and it can only be described as spectacular: Housed within a 43mm white gold case measuring 13.85 mm tall, it features dual dials, several unique complications and more hand-finishing than you can shake a stick at. Looking at the "Tribute" from the front, one is greeted with a special time-telling display that utilizes a humanoid figure crafted from gold PVD-coated titanium."
Vacheron Constantin unveiled numerous high-end timepieces this year, including the Les Cabinotiers Solaria Ultra Complication with 43 functions and the Traditionnelle Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar in platinum. The maison released limited-edition openworked Traditionnelle models, simpler Traditionnelle and Patrimony dress watches, and Les Cabinotiers references honoring the Tour de l'Ile. Two recent novelties include La Quête du Temps, a 550-pound automaton clock with over 6,000 components exhibited at the Louvre, and Tribute to the Quest of Time, a 20-piece Métiers d'Art wristwatch with a 43mm white-gold case, dual dials, unique complications and lavish hand-finishing.
