This SSD enclosure has become one of my most-used laptop accessories - here's why
"With this setup, the Samsung SSD achieved read speeds of roughly 4,000 MB/s and write speeds of about 1,300 MB/s. Those are great numbers. Accessing files felt instantaneous. It took no time at all to open the movie I stored inside the drive. The read speed also shows that the enclosure isn't restricting the drive. It's making full use of the Thunderbolt connection. Writing large files is equally impressive, letting users save big files fast."
"This enclosure has one use: to house SSDs and PCIe modules for data storage. With the right component, it effectively becomes a fancy flash drive. One that ensures speedy file management and, according to the company, the capacity to house machine learning accelerators. Why we like it By far my favorite aspect of the enclosure is its speed. The HyperDrive is built to deliver real-world performance for professionals who frequently work with large files."
The HyperDrive Next USB M.4 PCIe enclosure houses SSDs and PCIe modules to create high-speed external storage and to accommodate machine learning accelerators. The enclosure connects via Thunderbolt 4 and can fully utilize NVMe drive bandwidth. When fitted with a 4TB Samsung 9100 Pro NVMe M.2 SSD and tested with CrystalDiskMark, the setup achieved roughly 4,000 MB/s read speeds and about 1,300 MB/s write speeds. Read performance enabled near-instant file access and smooth media loading, while write performance allowed rapid saving of large files. The enclosure does not bottleneck the drive and targets professionals handling large media or data sets.
