TCL CSOT shows off the world's highest pixel density displays for XR
"The first is a tiny 0.28" display - small enough to be embedded in lightweight smart glasses. However, this tiny display is a single-chip full-color Si-Micro LED panel with the highest pixel density in the world of 5,131ppi. It has a resolution of 1,280 x 720px, which isn't enough for VR, but is plenty for an information overlay in AR glasses. In case the wordy name above didn't fully explain things, this is a Micro LED display that is built on a silicon substrate - it's all one single chip."
"Micro LED is similar to Organic LED (OLED) in that each pixel emits its own light and doesn't need a backlight like LCD. The problem so far has been packing non-organic LEDs tightly enough to make a pixel dense display. For advanced XR devices, TCL CSOT presented the world's highest Real RGB G-OLED display - this one measures 2.24" and has 1,700ppi density. That works out to a resolution of 2,600 x 2,784px."
"This display has a 120Hz refresh rate with microsecond response times, deep contrast and low power usage. The "G" in "G-OLED" stands for "glass", which is the substrate used here - in other words, TCL created OLEDs on top of a sheet of glass. The "Real RGB" presumably refers to a full-stripe RGB instead of the usual OLED sub-pixel shenanigans."
"TCL CSOT also showcased other similar displays like the World's Highest-Res Single-Chip Multi-Color Si-Micro LED Display (0.28"), World's Highest MP 1,512ppi XR Display Paired With Cockpit (3.59") and even an LCD panel, the World's Highest 2,200ppi LCD XR Display (2.48")."
Display Week 2026 in Los Angeles featured leading display makers showcasing advanced technologies. TCL CSOT presented eXtended Reality (XR) display solutions. A 0.28-inch single-chip full-color Si-Micro LED panel delivers 5,131ppi pixel density and 1,280 x 720 resolution, enabling information overlays for AR glasses. The Micro LED approach emits light per pixel without a backlight, addressing challenges in tightly packing non-organic LEDs. For XR, TCL CSOT also presented a 2.24-inch Real RGB G-OLED display with 1,700ppi density, 2,600 x 2,784 resolution, 120Hz refresh, microsecond response, deep contrast, and low power. Additional high-resolution Micro LED and LCD XR panels were also shown.
