Sony's PS5 update adds controller swapping and Power Saving mode
"PS5 users can now run select games in "Power Saving" mode and pair DualSense controllers with multiple devices. Sony started beta testing these features in July, but they're now rolling out to everyone today in the version 25.06-12.00.00 console software update. The new Power Saver mode will reduce the power consumption of PS5 consoles in exchange for scaling back game performance, according to Sony's PS5 update notes, which could come in handy for the company's rumored PlayStation handheld."
"Power Saving mode can be toggled on or off for supported games by heading into Settings > System > Power Saving > Use Power Saver. When enabled, an icon will appear next to the supported game in Switcher or the control center, according to Sony. The software for DualSense and DualSense Edge wireless controllers has also been updated to make it easier to switch them across connected devices."
The PS5 version 25.06-12.00.00 update enables two major convenience and power-management features. A Power Saver mode reduces console power consumption in exchange for scaled-back game performance and may benefit a potential PlayStation handheld. Power Saving can be toggled per supported game via Settings > System > Power Saving > Use Power Saver, and an icon appears next to supported games in Switcher or the control center when enabled. DualSense and DualSense Edge wireless controller software now supports pairing with up to four devices simultaneously, simplifying switching among consoles, PCs, and cloud streaming devices without manual reconnection.
