"I queued up tracks with busy instruments, punchy drums, and standout vocals-songs that instantly expose weak earbuds. I also made sure to keep an eye on the battery life because, of course, no one wants a piece of tech that requires constant rejuicing. I brought them on my morning commutes to put the upgraded active noise cancellation (ANC) to the test, then flipped on ambient mode to see if subway announcements could cut through while I was listening to music."
"Design: Same as the Rest Unfortunately, the WF-1000XM6 buds don't quite fit my ears. This is ironic since Sony said that it redesigned the earbuds to "follow the natural curves of a person's inner ear." In fact, quite a few earbuds on the market fail to fit my ears, including the AirPods Pro 3. This is neither Sony's nor Apple's fault. My ears are small, and earbuds have trouble."
The WF-1000XM6 produces refined, sophisticated sound comparable to the WH-1000XM6 and handles busy tracks, punchy drums, and standout vocals well. Battery life was monitored and found to be acceptable for regular use. Upgraded active noise cancellation performs effectively on commutes, and ambient mode allows important announcements to come through. Fit proves problematic for small ears despite four included ear-tip sizes; the XS tip still feels loose and leads to accidental touch-control triggers during adjustments. The earbuds represent an upgrade for some users but contain drawbacks that may be dealbreakers for others.
