Snapdragon 8 Elite 5 is Qualcomm's next flagship chipset
"The upcoming chip will be called Snapdragon 8 Elite 5. But why skip four generations? Well, it seems Qualcomm is reverting to its original Snapdragon 8 series naming scheme, which began in 2021 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. From then, we got the SD 8 Gen 2 in 2022, followed by the SD Gen 3 and last year's SD 8 Elite, which would have been the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4."
"The SD Elite 5 is expected to use custom Oryon CPU cores with a prime CPU core clocked at 4.6 GHz. The "for Galaxy" or Extreme Edition version will reach up to 4.7 GHz. Qualcomm's upcoming chip is also expected to offer a new GPU that's rumored to clock in at 1.2 GHz and offer a record-breaking AnTuTu score ranging between 4.2 million and 4.4 million. The chip itself will be fabbed on TSMC's N3p 3nm process."
Qualcomm named its next flagship chipset Snapdragon 8 Elite 5, returning to the original Snapdragon 8 series naming that began in 2021. The Elite 5 represents the fifth chipset in the series and is described as an evolution of the established framework rather than a full redesign. Qualcomm will unveil Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 at the Snapdragon Summit in Maui on September 23. The chip is expected to use custom Oryon CPU cores with a prime core at 4.6 GHz (4.7 GHz in a "for Galaxy"/Extreme Edition), a new GPU rumored at 1.2 GHz, AnTuTu scores near 4.2–4.4 million, and TSMC N3p 3nm fabrication. Xiaomi's 17 series will launch as the first phones powered by the chip.
