Skylo, Google Partner on Satellite-Based Connectivity and New Smartwatch
Briefly

Skylo and Google expanded satellite connectivity to the Pixel 10 Series and released Pixel Watch 4 with integrated, standards-based satellite communications. Pixel Watch 4 is the first smartwatch to offer integrated satellite communications and the first device to enable satellite-based location sharing using Android 16. The watch uses Skylo's commercial Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) and Qualcomm's Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 Wearable Platforms, integrating NB-NTN satellite connectivity for standalone access. The device enables direct connections to emergency services and location sharing without a phone or terrestrial signal. Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 supports longer battery life while maintaining performance. Satellite SOS coverage and satellite messaging availability vary by device, region, and carrier. Skylo and Syniverse previously enabled two-way SMS via satellite for Verizon using Syniverse Evolved Mobility to integrate native direct-to-device messaging.
By integrating Skylo's satellite service with our Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 platforms, we're empowering device makers to deliver life-saving connectivity anywhere - without needing a phone, tower, or terrestrial signal,
This collaboration not only enhances the capabilities of wearables but also opens up new possibilities for users to stay connected in remote or emergency situations, ultimately setting a new bar for the industry.
