"Samsung's much-anticipated tri-fold smartphone might be coming later than recently reported. According to new information out of Korea, the device will be announced next month at the earliest, and is due to be released in November. This comes contrary to what we heard yesterday, when the same source, weirdly enough, claimed it would be going official by the end of this month."
"Of course, after such a long wait, a month or two more isn't that big of a deal. Huawei is launching its second-generation tri-fold device this month, however, and the Mate XTs will be the main competitor to Samsung's upcoming tri-fold, since it's going to be the only other such device on the market. Once again Samsung is said to be planning on shipping just 50,000 units of its first tri-fold smartphone, which, needless to say, isn't much."
Samsung's tri-fold smartphone is now expected to be announced no earlier than next month, with a November release planned. Earlier claims of an end-of-month unveiling were contradicted by new Korean reports. Huawei is launching its second-generation tri-fold, the Mate XTs, this month and will be the primary competitor as the only other device in the category. Samsung reportedly plans a limited initial run of 50,000 units, far smaller than the original Galaxy Fold's 500,000-unit run, and the new tri-fold will carry a higher price. Samsung appears to delay broader exposure to avoid diverting attention from strong Galaxy Z Fold7 sales.
