Samsung Galaxy S22 series is now receiving the One UI 8 update
"Following the release of One UI 8 based on Android 16 for the Galaxy S25 family in mid-September, it reached the older Galaxy S23 devices late last month. Now it's finally also made its way to the Galaxy S22 family. The update has so far been spotted in Türkiye, with build version S90xBXXUIGYI7. It arrives over-the-air as a 3.1GB download, and includes the September 1, 2025 security patches."
"Interestingly, the S22 devices were promised to receive four major Android updates. Since they launched with Android 12 on board, this update will be the last major one they ever get, unless Samsung changes its mind - but it most likely won't. The S22 family will still receive security patches for a while, but that's it for the models launched in 2022."
One UI 8 based on Android 16 has been released for the Galaxy S22 family after earlier rollouts to the Galaxy S25 and S23 devices. The update was spotted in Türkiye with build S90xBXXUIGYI7 and is delivered over the air as a 3.1GB download containing the September 1, 2025 security patches. The S22 models originally shipped with Android 12 and were promised four major Android updates, so this Android 16 upgrade will be the last major platform update for those devices. Security patches will continue for a period, while Samsung now offers seven years of major update coverage for newer flagships.
