"Your camera can make mistakes and might produce false positives (detecting fire when there isn't one) or false negatives (missing actual fires)."
"Ring began with a single doorbell I built in my garage - one that was sadly lost in the Palisades fire last year,"
"While that loss is small compared to the devastation experienced by families and the lives lost, it reinforces why this work matters so deeply to me."
Fire Watch is a new Ring feature in the Neighbors section that will roll out nationwide this spring. The feature uses wildfire alerts and reporting from nonprofit Watch Duty to notify nearby Ring users when Watch Duty identifies a wildfire. Eligible outdoor Ring cameras begin AI-based image recognition monitoring for smoke and flames after users receive a notification. Camera owners are alerted if the AI detects smoke or fire, and Ring warns that cameras can produce false positives or false negatives. Ring donated $1 million to Watch Duty to expand real-time reporting across all 50 states and improve capabilities.
