Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5's launch date announced
"The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 was also believed to come in a 1+7 configuration, but reliable tipster Digital Chat Station claimed it will come in a 2+6 configuration like its Elite counterpart. That means two prime cores and six performance cores. The tipster also said that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 would use the Adreno 840 GPU, but its performance won't be the same as the Elite chip's."
"Later, it confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, like the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, is built on a 3nm process, but with the prime and performance cores having a maximum clock speed of 3.8GHz and 3.32GHz, respectively. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5's prime cores are clocked at up to 4.6GHz, while the performance cores are clocked at up to 3.62GHz."
Qualcomm's Chinese branch announced a November 26 launch date for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC. Qualcomm described the platform as a mobile platform developed "to give you more choices and flexibility, while still delivering flagship features." The chip shares a 3nm process with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 but uses lower clock speeds: the prime core tops at 3.8GHz and performance cores at 3.32GHz, compared with the Elite's 4.6GHz and 3.62GHz. Reliable leaks suggest a 2+6 core configuration (two prime, six performance). The SoC is expected to use the Adreno 840 GPU with reduced performance versus the Elite. Full specifications will be revealed at launch.
