During Minecraft Live 2025, Mojang introduced the Happy Ghast, a passive counterpart to the hostile Ghast. Players must find and tame a Dried Ghast, which is located near fossils in the Soul Sand Valleys of the Nether. Once obtained, the Dried Ghast must undergo a rehydration process in water, taking around 20 minutes. After rehydration, players will end up with a Happy Ghast, which can be ridden, adding a unique feature to Minecraft's gameplay. Crafting Dried Ghasts is possible but less efficient than finding them directly.
To find a Dried Ghast, players must travel through a Nether Portal and seek out the small cube with a sad face, which is not commonly found.
The rehydration of the Dried Ghast is crucial, requiring players to submerge it in water and observe its transformation over approximately 20 minutes.
Crafting a Dried Ghast requires 1 Soul Sand and 8 Ghast Tears, but locating one in the Nether is generally a more effective option.
Once rehydrated and grown, the Happy Ghast becomes a unique passive mob that players can ride, adding new gameplay features to Minecraft.
