Google Pixel 11 series now rumored to have a new modem from MediaTek
"Back in December of 2024, the then upcoming Pixel 10 devices were rumored to be using a MediaTek modem, but that hasn't happened and they're still packing the same Samsung-made Exynos modem as their predecessors. However, this may all change next year with the Pixel 11 devices, which are now rumored to - you guessed it - use a MediaTek modem, specifically the M90. This will be paired with Google's Tensor G6 SoC, of course."
"Anyway, if it does happen, it will be interesting to see how the Pixel 11 phones will fare with connectivity compared to their predecessors. The M90 was unveiled in February, and supports up to 12Gbps peak downlink performance. It aligns with 3GPP Release 17 and 18, and supports both sub-6 5G and mmWave, along with 5G dual SIM dual-active with data. There's also satellite connectivity built-in, so all in all it seems like a wonderful choice for Google's next flagships."
Pixel 11 devices are rumored to use a MediaTek M90 modem paired with Google's Tensor G6 SoC, replacing the Samsung-made Exynos modem used in previous models. A prior rumor that Pixel 10 would switch to MediaTek did not materialize, so this new claim should be treated cautiously. The M90 supports up to 12Gbps peak downlink, aligns with 3GPP Release 17 and 18, supports sub-6 5G and mmWave, and enables 5G dual SIM dual-active with data. The M90 also includes built-in satellite connectivity, potentially improving connectivity performance compared with predecessors. Whether the switch occurs remains uncertain until Google confirms. If confirmed, connectivity differences will show in real-world performance comparisons.
