The inReach Mini 3 Plus includes a color touchscreen, voice messaging, 1,600-character text support, and the ability to send and receive photos. Satellite communication features require a separate Garmin inReach subscription with monthly plans ranging from $7.99 to $49.99. The device retails for $499.99, higher than the Mini 2's $399.99. Touchscreen text entry replaces arduous button scrolling and should speed messaging. Voice messages can be recorded for up to 30 seconds, played aloud or transcribed to text. Photo sending works by pairing the device with a smartphone running the Garmin Messenger app. Battery life is up to 350 hours at 10-minute tracking or 95 hours in performance messaging mode.
