Gallows Corner roundabout and flyover closure has significantly affected local traffic and business operations. Wax On car wash and Gallows Corner Motors closed due to the works, while others are facing uncertainty regarding deliveries and customer access. Colin Chapman of Easy Bathrooms reported a decline in foot traffic but noted the resilience of dedicated customers. Access remains possible via the Avenue Industrial Estate, though many customers are deterred by the additional travel time. Other, less visible businesses are reporting struggles with customer navigation and awareness amid the closure.
The closure of Gallows Corner has had a significant impact on traffic, affecting access to businesses and forcing some to close completely. Wax On car wash and Gallows Corner Motors were among those severely affected, unable to operate during the works.
Colin Chapman, manager at Easy Bathrooms, expressed the challenges faced during the closure, saying, "It's obviously been quiet but we are trying to keep our head above water. We've still got trade and business people coming in." He acknowledged that the closure revealed their dedicated customers.
Despite the difficulties, the staff remains optimistic. Chapman highlighted the importance of their loyal customers, stating, "It's shown who our dedicated customers are. We're not getting the perusals and browsing - or not as many."
Other businesses, like Gallows Corner MOTs, are facing issues with customer awareness, as one tester noted, "Customers don't know what to do, they don't know how to get to us. It's really, really struggling."
