Over nearly a decade, Google Assistant has integrated into numerous Google products. Recently, Google announced the transition of the Assistant to Gemini, which will impact a range of products like cars, watches, and speakers. While many connected devices should receive updates easily, standalone devices may face uncertainties. Despite improvements, Gemini has potential issues with basic functions that Assistant handled well. As this transition unfolds, Google faces the challenge of altering user interaction with technology, possibly encountering pushback as users adjust to the changes.
Not all devices can simply download an updated app-after almost a decade, Assistant is baked into many Google products.
Google says it's working on updated Gemini experiences for those devices...there's a Gemini preview program for select Google Nest speakers.
On the other hand, Assistant had its fair share of problems and didn't exactly win a lot of fans.
