DJI reveals the Osmo Pocket 4P tailored for independent filmmakers
DJI introduced the Osmo Pocket 4P at the Cannes Film Festival as an advanced version of the Osmo Pocket 4. The regular model targets mainstream creators and vloggers, while the 4P is aimed at professional independent filmmakers. The 4P is designed to replace part of the heavy filmmaking equipment with compact, powerful hardware. DJI provided limited details, but described an improved main sensor for wider dynamic range, enhanced zoom for better portrait shots, and new color reproduction algorithms for more accurate skin tones. The camera supports 10-bit D-Log2 color profiles for professional color grading. It also improves detail and dynamic range in nighttime and indoor scenes, and it works with DJI accessories for stabilization and audio. No release date was announced.
"DJI took the stage for a brief moment and introduced the Osmo Pocket 4P, which is a more advanced version of the regular Osmo Pocket 4 that the company introduced last month."
"While the regular Pocket 4 is aimed toward mainstream content creators and vloggers, the Pocket 4P is tailored for professional, independent filmmakers. With its powerful, yet compact hardware, the Pocket 4P wants to replace a good chunk of the heavy equipment involved in filmmaking. Hence, the product was introduced, although not fully disclosed, at the Cannes Film Festival."
"For now, we will have to work with vague descriptions of an improved main sensor capable of capturing a wider dynamic range. The zoom capabilities have also been improved, which will help with nicer portrait shots, too. New color reproduction algorithms render skin tone more accurately."
"Speaking of color, the compact camera setup supports 10-bit D-Log2 color profiles for professional-grade color grading. The more powerful sensor allowed the Pocket 4P to render nighttime and indoor scenes with more detail and wider dynamic range. Of course, the camera pairs with a broad line of DJI accessories that improve stabilization, audio, etc."
