"AICore is all about self-hosted AI models, such as Gemini Nano. Those models take up space (in some cases, lots of space). Those Large Language Models (LLMs) are used for features such as Magic Composer, Pixel Studio, Call Notes, Pixel Screenshots, smart replies, summarizing audio, and understanding images and sounds. AICore is charged with two things: keeping the AI model up to date and connecting it to various apps."
"Although you cannot delete AICore, now that you've disabled it, you should find that you've recovered significant space on your device. Also: This Android trick lets me access my phone faster - here's how it works After disabling AICore, I did notice a slight improvement in performance and battery, but most importantly, all of those AI notifications are now gone."
AICore hosts self-hosted on-device AI models such as Gemini Nano. Those models power features including Magic Composer, Pixel Studio, Call Notes, Pixel Screenshots, smart replies, audio summarization, and understanding images and sounds. AICore is responsible for keeping models up to date and connecting them to apps. On-device models can occupy significant storage, in some cases up to about 10GB. AICore can also consume substantial system memory and battery. Disabling AICore recovers storage, reduces memory and battery use, and stops AI notifications. AICore cannot be deleted but disabling it does not prevent access to AI features. Restoring or re-enabling AICore restores on-device models and related functionality.
