A man with cerebral palsy using a mobility scooter was repeatedly blocked and cut off by a sluggish delivery robot in West Hollywood, forcing him to rear-end the machine. The delivery bot swerved into his path, brake-checked him, and occupied much of the sidewalk, creating hazardous conditions for a mobility-impaired pedestrian. Autonomous delivery robots frequently stop or obstruct sidewalks and have been involved in incidents that caused injuries and property damage. Examples include a Starship robot reversing into and striking a pedestrian, collisions with vehicles, and a delivery bot interfering with a crime scene.
