Calif. theme park's first roller coaster in 20 years will be customizable
"Galacticoaster, an indoor dark ride that will be the marquee attraction of Lego Galaxy, is the first coaster that Legoland California has added in 20 years. The attraction is a massive leap forward in the park's technology and storytelling. It will also be, by far, its scariest and most exciting ride. As guests enter the show building, they meet Biff Dipper, a hero and astronaut from the Legoverse who tells riders their mission."
""LEGO Galaxy is the Resort's next bold venture, completely inspired by the passions and evolving interests of our guests," Kurt Stocks, the president of Legoland California Resort, said in a statement shared with SFGATE. "Our Merlin Magic Making team and engineers have spent more than three years delivering an experience powered by creativity, advanced ride systems and innovation." Lego Galaxy is scheduled to open on March 6."
Lego Galaxy opens March 6 at Legoland California as part of a $90 million investment by Merlin Entertainments in its California and Florida parks. The new land centers on children's enthusiasm for space, incorporating aliens, vehicles and imaginative possibilities throughout the area. Galacticoaster serves as the marquee indoor dark coaster and is the park's first new coaster in 20 years, representing a substantial technological and storytelling upgrade and a significant increase in intensity and excitement. Guests encounter characters like Biff Dipper and a mission-based narrative tied to an approaching asteroid, built by teams who spent years developing creative, advanced ride systems.
