"We're no longer able to sustain the development and support of the cloud infrastructure that powers this older generation of products. We remain committed to creating new listening experiences for our customers built on modern technologies."
"So basically they will become expensive bricks in 6 months. I'm fuming. I have like $3k invested in these. Been Bose customer for over 40 years. Will never buy from them again. Hey we will sell you an expensive product and one day we will simply break them so you can't use them any more. WTF????"
Bose will discontinue cloud support for all SoundTouch products on February 18, 2026. After that date, streaming services such as Spotify and TuneIn and multi-room playback will stop functioning. Standalone SoundTouch speakers should still connect via Bluetooth and AUX, though Bose cannot guarantee long-term performance. SoundTouch-enabled home theater products using HDMI, optical, or Bluetooth are expected to remain operational, but the SoundTouch app will be discontinued. Bose cites the product line's age—introduced in 2013—and an inability to sustain cloud infrastructure development and support. Many customers are upset given the premium prices and lack of migration or open-sourcing.
